As we all know, homeschooling is a family affair! Experienced homeschool moms can attest to the fact that even the little ones who are too young for “school” tend to pick up amazing amounts of information as they eavesdrop on their older siblings lessons. Recognizing that these little babes just soak up information, homeschool graduate and artist, Johannah Bluedorn has created an adorable and functional book just for these youngest scholars. Little Bitty Baby Learns Hebrew is the first in a series of board books for babies and toddlers.
What a wonderful way to introduce Biblical Hebrew to your family! Although designed with young children in mind, including child-pleasing art, and sturdy, laminated pages, this book is a useful tool for all ages. Each of the twenty-two letters (consonants) is presented, usually one per page, along with instructions for forming the letter, how the sound is pronounced and an illustration to help your child remember what the letter sounds like. Learning these basic letters and sounds are the first baby steps on the road to learning Biblical Hebrew. The final two pages present all of the letters in order – a perfect tool for review as the child gets older and ready to move to more advanced language lessons.
Johannah Bluedorn has done a wonderful job both with the content and illustrations in this charming book.
Her watercolor work is absolutely beautiful – a perfect compliment to the beauty and gentle flow of the written Hebrew presented in the text. Little Bitty Baby Learns Hebrew is the perfect size for little hands to carry around and may just become a favorite “story” that your child will want you to read with him on a regular basis. Imagine the double benefit of having an older sibling read this book to their little brother or sister – they will both be learning the basics of Biblical Hebrew at the same time!![]()
