Horizons Math from Alpha Omega Publishing

When looking for a math program, I usually look for pleasant, uncluttered pages, colorful illustrations and just the right amount of review to keep skills sharp.  I found all of this in the Horizon's Math curriculum from Alpha Omega.  A bit more "advanced" per grade level than some programs, I like this program for kids for whom math comes more easily. Horizons Math lays a strong foundation in numeric literacy and encourages hands-on learning, with instructions to use manipulatives to aid in student understanding and retention.  Most manipulatives can be found around the house.

One of my favorite features is the Teacher's Manual which features day-to-day lessons that makes this program easy to implement.  There are two student workbooks per grade level - please note that there are only brief instructions in the student texts, they are not designed to be self-instructional.  All lesson plans and answers are in the Teacher's Manual.  Horizon's Math is available for grades K - 6, most move on to Saxon Math or the LIFEPAC Curiculum for upper grades.

Each SET below contains 1-Teacher's Manual & 2 - Student Books

For those needing to move at a more "normal" pace, take a look at the Alpha Omega Math LifePacs below.  I have had the pleasure of using both Horizons and the LifePacs with my two very different learners and can whole-heartedly recommend them to you!

My son really likes the "bite-sized" approach to the LIFEPAC Math program.  He is not overwhelmed by a large textbook, the problems are a bit more spread out on the page and there is less "busy work" than many programs.  He also likes the feeling of accomplishment as he takes each self-test and is able to "put away" each individual book.  This is a well-rounded program providing solid math instruction that encourages mastery at every level.
